Managing llms-full.txt in Fiidom AEO
llms-full.txt is a public file published at /llms-full.txt on your store. It shares your store's important content, including complete product details, descriptions, and rich metadata, so AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Google AI can read, index, and deeply understand your store.
How it fits with your other AI files:
- llms.txt is a summary index that helps AI discover what your store offers.
- llms-full.txt is the complete knowledge file that helps AI understand your store in depth.
- agents.md is where instructions for AI live. llms-full.txt doesn't contain instructions. It focuses on content that can be fully indexed: products, collections, blog posts, pages, and store policies.
llms.txt and llms-full.txt use the same data sources and the same settings screens. They just serve different purposes.
Open the llms-full.txt page
Go to Apps > Fiidom AEO > AI Discovery, open AI Files, and select the Full AI Index (llms-full.txt) tab. You can also click View details next to llms-full.txt in the Overview table.
The page has two columns:
- Left: File Preview, where you review and edit the file.
- Right: Index sources, plus file info and a short description of the file.
If your storefront is password protected, you'll see a Password protection enabled warning at the top. AI bots can't reach your AI files while the password is on, so click Disable password when your store is ready to go live.
File status
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Synced | The file was processed successfully and is live. |
| Processing | Shopify is processing the file. Edit and Regenerate are turned off until it finishes. |
| Not synced | An error occurred, or processing took longer than 10 minutes. |
The status is checked when you open the page and refreshes automatically while you're on it.

Regenerate
Rebuilds llms-full.txt from:
- Your current store data
- The index sources you've enabled
- The fields you've selected
- The item limit for each source
Once you've generated or edited llms-full.txt in Fiidom, it doesn't update automatically when you add new products, collections, or other content. Click Regenerate whenever your store content changes.
After you click Regenerate, a save bar appears. Save to apply the new version.
- If it succeeds, the status changes to Synced, and the file size, last updated time, and preview all refresh.
- If it fails, the status changes to Not synced and you'll see an error message asking you to try again.
Edit
Opens the editor so you can change part of the file (see the next section).
Note: The original llms-full.txt that Shopify creates can't be edited. Until you regenerate, the Edit button is disabled. Hover over it to see Regenerate the file before editing. Once you've regenerated, the file uses Fiidom's template, and you can edit it.
Edit llms-full.txt
The editor splits the file into two areas:
- Editable area (top): everything before the auto-generated block, such as your store name and a short introduction. You can change this text freely.
- Auto-generated area (bottom, marked read-only): everything from the system-generated block onward, including your policies, products, collections, and other indexed content. This part is built from your index sources, so you change it through Index sources settings rather than by typing.
To edit:
- Click Edit.
- Change the text in the editable area.
- Click Save to keep your changes, or Discard to throw them away.
After saving, the editor returns to preview mode and shows the new status, such as Synced. Your changes appear in the live file once they're saved. While editing, you can also use View live file and Copy.
If the file is still processing after you save, editing is locked until it finishes. Hover over the editor to see why. If processing fails, or doesn't finish within 10 minutes, the status changes to Not synced and an error message appears on the page after you close the editor.
Reset to default
Once you've edited or regenerated llms-full.txt, a Reset to default button appears in the File Preview. It restores the original file Shopify created and removes your customizations. It isn't shown while you're still using Shopify's original file.

Tips for a strong llms-full.txt
- Regenerate after store changes. New products and collections aren't added until you click Regenerate.
- Pick fields with purpose. Add the details shoppers ask about, such as descriptions, variants, and inventory status, and skip fields AI doesn't need. Fewer fields keep the file fast and healthy.
- Use filters to focus. If you have a large catalog, filter by collection, type, or tag to feature what matters most.
- Keep instructions in agents.md. Use llms-full.txt for content only.
- Check the live file. After saving or regenerating, click View live file to confirm your changes are published.
